About Us

History

The Music Kitchen launched onto the Scottish music scene early 2003 hitting the Scottish charts with "The Scottish Chillout Album". The mission statement - to produce music with accessability coupled with an innovative charm.

As the name suggests, The Music Kitchen create a recipe of music related projects aimed at the cross over market - It is a meeting place for the unusual, not so obvious ideas and concepts, each product delivering innovation.

The People


Gordon Campbell, Managing Director of The Music Kitchen Gordon Campbell - Managing Director

After graduating with a B.A. in accountancy at Edinburgh University , Gordon started his career as office junior/songwriter for REL Records in Edinburgh . Realizing he had passion and skill for songwriting, Gordon was soon signed up to Elton John's "Rocket Music Publishing", and remained a popular in-house songwriter for several artists including Shakin' Stevens throughout the 80's.

Gordon's diverse skills in business and creativity allowed him to move on to more serious projects, and in 1986 he became the originator and Course Director for the first ever Music Business Course in the UK. The flagship course held in West Lothian college has proceeded to grow, with over 200 courses alike, running throughout the UK . Gordon represents The Music Kitchen as business development Director, focusing on driving the business forward and producing innovative ideas.

 

Stuart Wood, Director/Producer at The Music Kitchen Stuart Wood - Director / Producer

Stuart entered the industry early on, spending his adolescent years as the guitarist for The Bay City Rollers, the world's biggest pop band in the 1970's.
After his success with The Rollers, Stuart moved to South Africa and performed in a band called The Passengers, which became a chart topping success throughout the 1980's.

After returning home from SA, Stuart has enjoyed becoming a celebrated and successful record producer in Scotland . His recent successes have included producing Virgin Records' "The Lone Piper" and "Scottish Moods" which was certified Platinum and Gold awards in sales.




Fraser Purdie, Creative Director of The Music Kitchen Fraser Purdie - Creative Director (Consultant)

The newest addition to the team, Fraser's background is in the audio visual domain, helping to take the company into the world of multimedia. Has filmed and edited many of the companies productions and promos, including the feature documentary "Rollercoaster". He also has a diploma in media music composition and has written two units on Audio For Multimedia for the SQA.
